Parallax Barrier is a device that is placed in front of an image source, such as LCD (liquid crystal display), to allow stereoscopic or multiscopic images to be seen without the need of 3D glasses. This removes the inconvenience factor of having to wear glasses to watch 3D content.
Application
Parallax barrier can be used in variety of fields. The 2010 Range Rover uses it in its navigation system to allow the driver to see the GPS navigation while the passenger watches a movie. The limited viewing angle of the technology does not allow adequate 3D experience when used in larger display formats (20+ inches), mobile applications are more feasible at the moment. Nintendo 3DS or HTC’s Evo 3D are prime examples of mobile application
